our motto
Letter from our President: Biblical perspecitive on our motto
A few days ago we introduced project10, which will account for 10% of our work week. So what do we do with the other 90%? We work right? I guess so… but what if there was another way to work…
After 6 years of running my own business I am still convinced that the Bible is the best guide to business ever written. In tough times (a.k.a. recession), it is our instinct to retreat or discount our work in order to stay in business. The Bible often refers to it with a different mindset. We often ask the Lord to bless us – but sometimes God offers us a challenge (recession) AS a blessing (we’re dumb – we never realize it). Recession is a time to scale back from any excess and rely on our intellect and creativity.
In Roman times it was common for a soldier to make a Jew traveling the same road carry his bag. They would be forced to carry the bag for about a mile and then someone else would be forced to take the load. Matthew 5 mentions this and says, when your asked to take the load (hard times) and walk a mile… do it with energy and walk two miles.
It goes on in verses 44-46 to say:
44b When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer,45 for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty.46 If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that.
What does this mean for us?
When we have a project or task that seems like a heavy load…we carry the load with energy and take it two miles.
This is how you, our clients, will know that we are different. We are a company that finishes with energy and goes the extra mile.
So, for the 90% of our work week, we’re introducing a new motto, a new energy, a new passion for our work, our team mates and our clients. Welcome to…
