Same and Different
When I told my wife that I was offered a job at eyespeak she said, “Austin, you don’t look cool enough to work there.” So, after I accepted my position we went shopping to get me some cool clothes so I would look the part. After working in corporate America for the last five years I had quite a collection of dress clothes, but only one pair of jeans and no graphic t-shirts.
The good news is that my wife really knows her stuff when it comes to fashion, so my new look is completely not due to my own efforts. My wife pointed out that I had been wearing some of the same shirts and pants for 4 years. Her analysis was that my look was getting a little tired and dated and probably needed a little help even if I were going to stay in the corporate world.
I am happy to report that I look like I belong at eyespeak now. The flip-side is that I am still the same guy with really lame jokes that Jason has to hear all day long. So, I am the same guy with a different look.
That’s kind of what its like for a business when they freshen up their website or go through a re-branding effort. They are the same company on the inside, but they get a new look for the outside. I feel like it is important to take a look every year or so at your site and your brand to find areas that could be improved and updated.
Are you willing to take a look at some changes to your look? Have you taken a look at your branding lately? What about your website? Do you need to make some changes? Need to add a dedicated mobile site for optimal use on smartphones?
