Beautiful. Powerful.
These are two attributes we strive for in everything we do at eyespeak. They're sort of an internal test we use for our work.
Often, the things that perfectly combine power and beauty are what we find ourselves in awe of. Take lightning for example. Powerful? No doubt. Beautiful? For sure. And as a result, we are often left in amazement.
BEAUTY
We strive for beauty in everything we design. When creating a brand, not only do the individual components need to be strong as they stand alone, but they also need to be harmonious and consistently beautiful. Not only must the design be engaging and inspiring from near and far, but we must pay attention to every detail.
Web and mobile design have a completely different set of principles to follow in order to achieve beauty. The intuitive nature of the navigation has profound impact on the user's experience. Here the beauty lies not just in something we see but in how the interaction occurs.
POWER
How we measure power changes from project to project. We utilize the most current and innovative tools when building web or mobile technologies for our clients. From the strength and capabilities of the applications we build to the code that they consist of, we can be sure our result is powerful.
Without power, something is just pretty. There is no gusto driving the force. Print work must cause an action or emotional response for those who see or touch it. For messaging, it's the same thing. Whether it happens on a website, on Twitter or on a piece of paper, the message being expressed needs to impact the reader. If it doesn't, it's just a bunch of letters.
BEAUTY AND POWER
Let's be clear, the code/design/brandmark/etc. is only part of your brand. The way people perceive you, the way you answer your phones, your email signature, business cards, impression when people walk in your office….all this and much more form the totality of your brand. Beauty and power must both be present. The combination flows outward from every part of your brand and reminds the world what you stand for.

This is a great observation and resonated with me. We just spent 3 weeks in Italy and had many discussions about the relationship of power and beauty in Italian art. Great reflections.
Thanks Cathi, really appreciate it. I’m a huge fan of Italian Renaissance art and agree with you, it’s extremely powerful.
