For some of us, life makes most sense when expressed with math. Here’s some of my math:
feel > fix
This is hard to do (especially for xy), but it is more important that a person feels heard than that you express your ability to solve their problem.
concise > complete
We often talk too long trying to get a point across and make sure we don’t leave anything out. Most people tune out or forget what was said. A concise message that gets most of the point across will win over a fully completed thought… in life and marketing.
shipped > perfect
We have a client (I still love you) that has had a complete (and awesome) website ready to launch for more than a month. Some fear of imperfection keeps them from launching. Assuming this is true and the site is only 90% perfect, it is still 9000% more effective than what visitors have seen for the last month.
simple = powerful
There is a great quote that something is at it’s best when it’s at is simplist state… but not simpler.
power > force
100% truth + 100% grace = reality w/ love
We tend to communicate either with a harsh measure of truth or the fluffiness of grace as if it is a continuum we live on. This isn’t true. Jesus broke the mode. We can communicate at all times with a full measure of truth and a full measure of grace. Grace without truth is a lie. Truth without grace is harsh.
.5 + .5 = 1
If you are an incomplete person, finding another incomplete person will not complete you.
Do you have any life math equations that you keep top of mind?
