Continue readingEver wonder what makes Coca-Cola so special? It is, after all, only a soft drink. How does a soft drink create so much infatuation, enthusiasm, and loyalty? Being from Atlanta, I may be a bit more loyal than the average Coke fan, but I can honestly say that a drop of Pepsi hasn't crossed my lips in over a decade. And there isn't a chance that I'll drink it at any point in the future. Again, I am probably a more extreme case. But the brand loyalty Coke has created is nothing short of incredible. "Coke" has all but replaced the word "soda", their logo is hung as decor in homes and businesses, and hundreds of people line up outside a building in Centennial Olympic Park daily to experience the history of this company– of this brand. Want to hear something really amazing? Coca-Cola is the most recognized brand in the WORLD. That's right. A soft drink.

Continue readingThose smelly fish, packed-with-protein goodness, have been the topic of many an interesting conversation. In my second trimester of pregnancy, when the perinatologist (special preggers doctor) discovered my lack of dairy consumption, he recommended a pack of sardines and a serving of salmon once a week. His reasoning being that these two foods are packed with protein, omega-3s, and calcium among some other much-needed nutrients for a growing baby. My first thought was, “Salmon? I can do that, but SARDINES?! That’s something my dad eats.”
